Kia ora!

My name is Tamatha Paul (Ngāti Awa, Waikato).

I grew up in a small-town, working class whānau. Like many, I came here to Te Whanganui-a-Tara to understand how we can leave a better world for generations to come.

It has been the honour of my life representing Wellington Central as your Member of Parliament for the past few years.

Thank you for trusting me to represent your voice in Parliament, and on the two terms before that that I represented you as a Wellington City Councillor. With your support over the years, I have been able to secure local wins:

  • Radically increased housing potential in Wellington, and continued advoacy to build public housing in Wellington

  • Securing funding to create a citywide cycleway network, and opposing the wasteful Mt Vic Tunnel

  • Secured an independent, medium-sized music venue for Wellington, and secured funding to reduce sexual violence in town

Importantly, I have been able to represent our communities on some of the biggest nationwide issues including:

  • Fighting for public housing across the country, as well as better retal housing quality and compassionate responses towards ending homelessness

  • Speaking up for Te Tiriti and our precious environment through helping to lead the Greens’ work on the Treaty Principles Bill and the Regulatory Standards Bill

  • Helping to introduce our country’s first anti-stalking law which criminalises stalking and harassment

I’m asking for your trust and belief once more to win the new seat of Wellington North. Together, we can win the North!

But more importantly, together, we can make this a one-term government.

[Tam] is exactly the kind of person we need in politics if we are going to deliver climate justice and build a society that works for everyone, not just those who already have money and wealth.
